The Ocean Grove Flower & Gift Shop was founded December 11, 1971 on the site of  what was once Olin Market. Located at 44 Main Avenue in Ocean Grove, it remains today one of the Shore’s best known and popular flower shops. 

When Olin Market closed, the building’s owner approached founders Ted & Ella Trouwborst about opening a florist on the site. Considering that there was a large refrigerator already in place from the former grocery and meat market, it seemed a good idea.

At the time Ted & Ella were local hotel owners and part-time florists.  Ted was an active member of the local Chamber of Commerce, having served a term as its president. 

The couple ran a successful shop for many years with sons Ted Jr. and Gary joining the growing business along the way.  Ted Jr. and Gary eventually purchased the business from their parents where the tradition of excellence continued for many more years. 

History seemed to repeat itself in early 1999 when Ted Jr. and Gary sold their store to Tom and Cathy Rechlin.  Tom & Cathy were former hotel owners, Cathy was a part-time florist and Tom was also a former president of the local Chamber of Commerce! 

Today the shop continues to thrive with Tom & Cathy at the helm. Our management team also includes Brian Gray, a horticulture expert. The floral design team of Cathy and Brian create an endless array of traditional and contemporary arrangements for all occasions. With the current team plus an excellent support staff, Ocean Grove Flower & Gift Shop is poised to provide superior quality and service for many years to come.
